E 48th Street Market Italian

Food – I highly recommend going here if for no other reason but to try their bread. It is perfect in every way. I worked for North America’s largest bakery for 4 years. I have tried all 500+ of their products and all the competitors as well. So, when I say this is the best bread I have ever tasted, it should mean something. I just got a simple chicken cutlet while I was here. I think there are better choices on the menu. The chicken could have been prepared better than simply cubed and cooked. Brine it, season it, coat it, marinade it, something! It just seemed like plain chicken cubed, cooked and coated with cheese and sauce. It was a decent sandwich but mostly because of the bread. I would recommend a meat choice from their Italian meat shop instead of something plain like chicken. Food gets a B+

Ambiance – So it’s more like a small shop than a restaurant. They sell Italian goods along with a great selection of wine. Everything in there is high quality but if you walk to the very back you will find a counter where you can order from the deli. They give you a ticket which you take to the cashier who rings you up. Then, you go to the covered porch they have to grab a table to eat at. It’s a great place to stop into for lunch and I like what they did with what they have to make a nice place to sit and eat. Ambiance gets a B+

Service – So the people here are extremely friendly. They take a lot of pride in the food they serve and what they sell here. It shows in how they treat their customer as well. I love getting friendly service but it is rare that you actually find service from people who genuinely care about you and your experience. Service gets an A+

Price/Quality – Well like I said there was two factors to the quality of food I received here. The bread was the best I ever had and the meat was average, and giving it that word is being generous. However, after seeing the meat they have in their shop, I know there was much better choices. I feel like there were many other sandwiches I could have ordered that would have been phenomenal all around. So, I have to keep that in mind. Overall for a drink and sandwich it was right at $8 which is a very good price. Price/Quality gets a B

Uniqueness – What other authentic Italian shops/deli’s do you know of in Atlanta? I don’t know any, at least not like this place. Even if there are, I would have a hard time thinking it’s as good as this. Amazing bread, wine and meat offerings with a deli to make you a good sandwich from those offerings. This place is truly unique. Uniqueness gets an A
