Yard House

Food – I had the Spicy Jambalaya. I have to say that it tasted amazing. One of the best Jambalaya’s I have ever had. There were many flavors in it. They truly understood how to properly blend spices together to create a unique flavor. The spiciness was perfect as well. Not too hot but very present and prominent in the dish. It also came with two blackened shrimp and once again the spices made it. Most restaurants, even popular ones, usually associate burnt with blackened, however that should not be the case. Yard House did not fall to this common mistake. They pulled it off perfectly. Food gets an A

Ambiance – This place was very nice inside. The lighting and modern décor made for a very inviting experience. They had many beers on tap and I liked the somewhat brewery setup they had. You could see the kegs in the upper echelons of the restaurants behind darkened glass. Two small design flaws was that there is nothing to deafen the sound so it can get really loud in there and the doors are put in such a way that when someone walks into the restaurant, a draft goes throughout the whole place. My date and I wore our jackets because of the draft. Ambiance gets a B+

Service – We ate at the bar so we could watch some basketball but the bartenders were really nice and very skilled. The restaurant was more than packed. Not only were there no seats at the bar, but people were standing behind us and had pulled up a second line of seats while expecting service. The bartenders were not even rattled; they were on top of every order. Our food did take around 35 minutes to come out. It was understandable and we didn’t really care as we were planning on hanging out for a few hours. We didn’t complain or even say anything but the manager still comped two drinks for us. We were very appreciative. Service gets an A

Price/Quality – My dish cost $17. I really enjoyed it and it was above average for sure but for Jambalaya, even good Jambalaya, it seems a bit pricy. The quality of food is good and not that common but the price isn’t going to have me running back. I would have guessed it was a $14 dish at best. That being said it was good enough I had no complaints about paying that. Price/Quality gets a B

Uniqueness – I believe in the uniqueness of this restaurant. While my dish wasn’t that unique I believe that there were some dishes on the menu that you wouldn’t be able to get anywhere else. I think the bartenders were top notch and very skilled. I also think that it is a type of bar you can go to in any situation no matter how upscale or laid back you want it to be. I don’t think those are qualities you can easily find in other places. Uniqueness gets an A-
