Chequers Seafood Grill

Food – I came here on Thanksgiving and had their Thanksgiving buffet. This review is for that only, and not for their regular menu. The food was absolutely perfect. They had many dishes and each one was better than the last. The flavor was incomparable. My personal favorites were the escalloped oysters, mashed Yukon golden potatoes, and cranberry fritters. I was impressed with how they took traditional Thanksgiving items and reinvented them to something new, yet still left the traditional aspects in. It was a wonderful meal. Food gets an A+

Ambiance – The inside had an air of classic sophistication. The décor had a feel of an old world restaurant. It didn’t feel old, just classic. It was nice but not a place that I would see myself in many situations. I much prefer the newer and hipper atmosphere for dates, personal, or even business. However, they do have their place and this one does a fair job with its classic ambiance. The Ambiance gets a B-

Service – Nothing special to mention about the service. The waiter was kind and friendly. He was able to get everything to the table in a timely manner and was always around when we needed him. It met expectations which was good considering how busy they were that night. Service gets a B

Price/Quality – Thanksgiving Buffet was around $50 per person which I felt was fair considering all the food they put out, plus a cold seafood bar, and a large dessert table which included a chocolate fountain. For the food that I did eat, which was two trips to the buffet, one to the cold seafood bar, and two pieces of dessert which is equivalent to one appetizer, two entrees, and two desserts, the price was more than fair. Regularly I would expect to pay over that. Price/quality gets a B+

Uniqueness – It is pretty common to find good food; it is uncommon to find excellent food which I felt like I had here. I had no complaints over my meal, yet usually I can find at least a small critique on technique. I also found some menu items to be unique. I had never had escalloped oysters before nor had I had cranberry fritters. It was a first for me and I felt like the food was truly unique. Uniqueness gets an A-
